RECYCLING

The Port Alice Recycling Society was formed in January, 1993.  Over the last 23 years, we have been through several transformations; most recently, Multi-Materials B. C. (MMBC) requirements and regulations have been adopted.

We are a depot, staffed by a paid supervisor and student worker, and four tireless volunteers. The  operation is funded by an annual grant from the Village of Port Alice.

There is no blue box curbside pick-up of recyclables in Port Alice.  We are a depot;  residents are required to drop off their recyclables at the inside depot located at 721 Marine Drive, part of the Public Works Dept. building.  The inside depot is open 16 hours a week.

Dalton (employee) and Cathy (volunteer) hold the fort down ….

Hours of operation are:

Saturday 10:00 – 2:00

Sunday 10:00 – 4:00(12:00 – 6:00 in summer)

Tuesday 12:00 – 6:00

For those who cannot make it to the depot during our hours of operation, there is a covered area in the transfer station where recyclables can be dropped off.   The transfer station is open from 8:15 to 3:45  Monday to Friday.
